On September 19, Lake Quinault Lodge will celebrate a century of welcoming guests to our lake shore. Our Centennial Celebration will take place from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and is designed to celebrate far more than the Lodge’s 100th anniversary. At its heart, this celebration is about the people, stories, traditions, and history that have made Quinault what it is today.
The Quinault Story
We have been incredibly fortunate to bring together such a wonderful cross-section of the community, including the Quinault Indian Nation, US Forest Service, National Park Service, local Mushroom Festival, historic cabin owners, Taholah Museum, Quinault Museum, Polson Museum, local businesses, nonprofits, artists, and community organizations. Each will help tell a different part of the Quinault story.
Lake Quinault Lodge’s history brought to life
We are also paying close attention to the details that will bring the Lodge’s history to life. One of the highlights will be honoring President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s visit to Lake Quinault Lodge. We are recreating the iconic canoe that was filled with moss and flowers for his visit, allowing guests to experience a small but memorable piece of that moment in the Lodge’s history.
Then & Now
We will also be incorporating a “Then & Now” theme throughout the celebration, including a 1920s-era vehicle and other period-inspired details that will help transport guests back to the Lodge’s earliest years. The intention is to make history something guests can actually see, experience, and photograph, not simply read about.
Embracing the spirit of 1926
From the way the Lodge grounds are presented to historical displays, storytelling, local art, music, cultural programming, and other carefully curated touches, we are really embracing the spirit of 1926 while celebrating where Quinault is today.
That attention to detail is important to us because Lake Quinault Lodge has always been more than a building. It has been a gathering place, a destination, and a part of countless family memories for generations. This celebration is our opportunity to honor that legacy while celebrating the people and community who continue to make this place so special.
The event will run throughout the day, with programming, activities, and experiences for guests to enjoy. We are also preparing for a strong turnout, with additional parking contingencies at Quinault School and shuttle transportation planned to assist guests.
Step back in time, but celebrate the present
We truly hope this celebration will feel like a step back in time, a celebration of the present, and a glimpse into the next 100 years, all in one day.
We are incredibly proud of what the community has helped us create, and we look forward to welcoming everyone to this once-in-a-century centennial celebration at Lake Quinault Lodge.
