Come for the fireworks. Stay for the adventure.
There are plenty of reasons to visit Port Angeles in July, but this year, there is one reason that stands above the rest. The fireworks are back!
After a year without a fireworks show, Port Angeles is bringing back one of the community’s most beloved traditions, and it could not come at a better time. As communities across the country celebrate America’s 250th birthday, Port Angeles is preparing for a full day of family fun. This includes friendly competition, live music, waterfront festivities, and a spectacular fireworks display over the harbor.
Whether you’re planning your first trip to the Olympic Peninsula, a returning visitor, or a local, July 4, 2026, is shaping up to be one of the best days of the summer. Celebrate the Fourth in Port Angeles!

A Full Day of Waterfront Fun
The celebration begins early along the Port Angeles waterfront.
Sports fans can kick off the morning at the 4th Annual Pat Webber Memorial Pickleball Tournament on the upper level of the Port Angeles Wharf, from 8 – 11 am. Whether you’re competing or simply cheering from the sidelines, it’s a great way to start the holiday.
At 11 am, the Patriotic Pet Parade returns, bringing some of the cutest “red, white, and blue spirit” you’ll find anywhere. For those looking for a little competition of their own, the Cornhole Tournament also begins at 11 am in Lot B, with cash prizes on the line for the top teams.

As the afternoon arrives, the waterfront transforms into a lively festival atmosphere. The Kids Zone will feature a foam party, obstacle courses, giant slides, mini golf, a petting zoo, and activities designed to keep young visitors entertained throughout the day. Older kids and adults can test their skills at Laser Tag near the Gateway Transit Center.
Meanwhile, local artists, makers, and food vendors will line the pier from noon until evening, creating the perfect opportunity to shop local, sample great food, and enjoy the energy of downtown Port Angeles.
The Beer Garden opens at 1 pm, offering local favorites from Mighty Pine Brewing and Barhop Brewing with some of the best waterfront views in town.

Classic Fourth of July Traditions
No Independence Day celebration would be complete without a few uniquely American traditions.
At 2 pm, Uncle Sam’s Hot Dog Eating Contest returns to City Pier. Equal parts competition and entertainment, it’s one of the most anticipated events of the day. Then comes one of Port Angeles’ most entertaining traditions: the Lawnmower Derby. Starting at 3 pm in Lot B, this crowd favorite combines creativity, competition, and just the right amount of chaos.

Live music takes center stage throughout the afternoon and evening. Mars Garden performs on the City Pier Stage from 4 – 6 pm, setting the tone for a festive evening along the waterfront.
At 6 pm, downtown Port Angeles comes alive for the America’s Bi-Quincentennial Parade. Featuring community organizations, businesses, creative floats, and patriotic displays, the parade celebrates both the nation’s 250-year history and the unique spirit of the Olympic Peninsula. The celebration continues with an evening concert from Black Diamond Junction from 8 – 10 pm, creating the perfect soundtrack as anticipation builds for the night’s grand finale.

The Return of the Fireworks
Then comes the moment everyone has been waiting for.
At 10:15 pm, fireworks will once again light up the skies above Port Angeles Harbor.
After a year without a fireworks display, excitement has been building across the community, and this year’s show promises to be one of the most memorable in recent history. Find a spot along the waterfront, Railroad Avenue, or Pebble Beach Park and enjoy an unforgettable display reflecting across the harbor and Strait of Juan de Fuca. It’s the perfect ending to a day showcasing everything people love about Port Angeles.

Keep the Celebration Going All July Long
Of course, America’s 250th birthday is about more than just one day.
The Fourth of July may be the centerpiece of the celebration, but one of the best parts about visiting Port Angeles is that the adventure continues long after the fireworks fade.
July is one of the most beautiful times of year on the Olympic Peninsula. Warm days, clear mountain views, and endless opportunities for outdoor exploration make it the perfect season to experience everything this region has to offer.

Spend a day exploring Hurricane Ridge. Paddle the waters of Lake Crescent. Hike through old-growth forests. Discover hidden waterfalls. Venture out to the rugged Pacific coastline. Take a scenic drive and enjoy a sunset along the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Or simply slow down and soak in the natural beauty that surrounds Port Angeles.
As America celebrates 250 years of history, there is something fitting about spending time in places that remind us of the country’s wild and enduring landscapes. Here, mountains meet ocean, forests stretch for miles, and adventure begins just minutes from downtown.
Port Angeles is more than a destination for the Fourth of July. It’s the gateway to some of the most remarkable outdoor experiences in the Pacific Northwest and a place where summer memories are made.
Come for the fireworks. Stay for the adventure.
