Twilight Saga Fascination Continues on the Olympic Peninsula

Ever since the first book of Stephenie Meyer’s fantasy Twilight Saga series was published in 2005, fans have been flocking to the town of Forks on the Olympic Peninsula. Once in town, they readily see why Stephenie was so inspired by this quaint little logging community, nestled between the rain forest and Pacific Ocean beaches.

The Forks Visitor Information Center, located just south of town, is Twilight-Central. Fans can pose with character cutouts from the movies and Bella’s big red truck, permanently parked out front.  Here they can get complete Twilight information and find great souvenirs. They also can retrace the footsteps of their favorite characters on a self-guided tour around town and the surrounding areas. The must-dos on this tour include eating mushroom ravioli at Bella Italia restaurant in Port Angeles and walking along First Beach in La Push. The self-guided tour map can be downloaded here or picked up at the Visitor Information Center. The digital Drive the Loop Twilight map can be accessed here.

Forever Twilight in Forks

Every September, the town of Forks celebrates Forever Twilight in Forks, held on the weekend closest to heroine Bella Swan’s birthday on September 13th. Fans can join the festivities, which include Twilight-inspired parties, activities, contests, vendors and more!  “Very Important Twilighters” (VITs) can purchase tickets for exclusive events but plenty of fun free stuff is available to do too! Surprise celebrity appearances have even happened at past years’ events.

This year’s festival is September 12-15, 2019. The theme, “Forks to Volterra: Twilight Saga Cities” celebrates the international connection between the small towns of Forks and Volterra, Italy. Volterra is the home of the Volturi vampire coven in Stephenie’s novels.
