Vehicle reservations for the spring schedule (March 23 through June 14) on the Port Townsend/Coupeville route are now available to reserve.
Looking for an alternative? Here are some fun alternate routes to consider, each of which offers great things to see and do along the way (for planning purposes only; Google maps do not show real-time traffic):
Northern Route via Whidbey Island
Hood Canal Bridge (SR 104)

Strong tides and high winds have the potential to close the SR 104 Hood Canal Bridge to all traffic. Check weather forecasts before you go. Be prepared to wait extended periods of time. Pack an emergency kit. Have a full tank of gas or a fully charged vehicle.
Click HERE for Hood Canal Bridge status, or download the app for real time updates. (Note that the bridge can be closed to road traffic without notice for military purposes.)
SR 104 – Jefferson County

Starting in June, 2024, safety improvement projects on SR 104 in Jefferson County, just west of the Hood Canal Bridge will begin. These will be in two locations: at the intersection of SR 104 and Paradise Bay – Shine Road, and also at the intersection of SR 104 and SR 19. Travelers should expect to reduce speeds and move carefully through the construction zones.

Hurricane Ridge (Olympic National Park)

Hurricane Ridge Road is open to uphill traffic Friday through Sunday, 9 am to 4 pm, with weather and road conditions permitting. All vehicles are required to carry chains. To learn more about the winter recreational opportunities at Hurricane Ridge, click HERE. The park’s webcam can be accessed for a current visual, which helps for trip planning and live weather watching.
Hoh Rain Forest (Olympic National Park)

Hoh Rainforest- Temporarily Closed
Effective December 20, 2024, until further notice, access to the Hoh Rain Forest area is temporarily closed due to road washout damage on the Upper Hoh Road at milepost 9.7. County and Park officials continue to monitor and will determine when the road is safe to reopen.
This closure includes the Hoh Rain Forest Visitor Center, campground, picnic area, and trailheads.
For information about park roads and other destinations, visitors should call the recorded Road and Weather Hotline at 360-565-3131 or visit the park website at: http://www.nps.gov/olym.
During this closure, visitors can find an alternative Hoh hike along the “Land of Legends Trail” which is about six miles up on the Upper Hoh Road before the closed area. Parking for the trailhead is at the Nikolai Memorial. No fees or passes needed. Dog-friendly. Click HERE for a map of the trail.
