Forever Resorts Appoints Gary Wood General Manager of Lake Crescent LodgePort Angeles, WA – October 2005 – The management team of Forever Resorts has been strengthened with the appointment of Gary Wood as general manager of Lake Crescent Lodge, executive vice president, John Schoppmann, announced. Gary Wood will manage Forever Resorts three resort concession operations in Olympic National Park, Washington overseeing Lake Crescent Lodge, Hurricane Ridge and Fairholme Store.
When Forever Resorts acquired the concessions at Lake Crescent Lodge and Hurricane Ridge in 2001, Gary Wood was selected as assistant manager. During his tenure Gary has been instrumental in the development of the property’s environmental management program – Forever Earth, including certification to ISO 14001 in 2004 and Lake Crescent Lodge, Hurricane Ridge and Fairholme Store’s acceptance of into the EPA National Environmental Performance Track program earlier this year.
A resident of the Peninsula since 1980, Gary Wood has more than 23 years of experience in national park concessions, including manager of the Olympic operations for National Park Concessions, Inc. From 1986-1996 he worked with the Linenkugel family, operating Log Cabin Resort in Olympic National Park. When the property was sold, Wood returned to Lake Crescent Lodge as assistant general manager.
Wood believes participation in the community plays an important role in the success of an operation. As such, he has remained involved in the local community serving as past president and board member of the Port Angeles Chamber of Commerce, the Olympic Peninsula Travel Association, and the Clallam County RV Park Association. A former board member of the North Olympic Peninsula Visitor and Convention Bureau Gary continues to remain on their marketing committee. He is currently a member of the Port Angeles Kiwanis Club and has served on their board.
A graduate of Virginia Tech with a degree in Education and Art in 1976, Gary is married to Karen, store manager of Fairholme Store. Their daughter, Kaitlyn, is a sophomore at Port Angeles High School.
Gary Wood, along with executive chef Jamison Brandt, is proud of the talented team members who will play a key role ensuring the quality of services provided at the Forever Resorts operations in Olympic National Park, Washington.
