Port Townsend, National Historic Landmark, celebrates Heritage with 10th Annual Victorian Festival
Port Townsend, WA
Have you ever dreamed of taking a trip in a time machine, back to an era of Victoriana, a time when the tall ships covered the bay? This is your opportunity…The Jefferson County Historical Society will present the 10th Annual Victorian Festival, March 16th to 19th, 2006. Come celebrate Port Townsend and Washington State’s Historical Heritage.
The festival will feature a myriad of wonderful events using the entire town as a venue, with Theatrics, Victorian Fashion Show and Walking tours all occurring in the diverse historical structures that make up this unique and special town. Port Townsend is one of a select few Historic Victorian Seaports on the National Historic Registry.
Some of the other many events occurring over the four-day festival are:
History’s Mysteries - Solve a real Port Townsend mystery from the 1890’s by gathering clues and interviewing historic characters.
Candlelight Homes Tour - Join a limited number of people on an escorted candlelight tour of three of Port Townsend’s Victorian gems. Light supper included.
Auction of Victorian Antiques - A whole truckload of wonderful antiques, brought from far and wide, and all to be sold to the highest bidder. Items include furniture, glassware, china, silver, lighting fixtures, linens, toys, and much more.
Port Townsend Historic Cemetery Tour: a Living History Experience — Have you ever wandered through an old cemetery and marveled at the early dates on some of the monuments? Pioneer historical re-enactors will meet you at their gravesites and tell you of their lives and what early Port Townsend was like.
Emporium - Enjoy shopping in a Victorian style mercantile, with products that might have been available in the 1890s.
Enjoy all of these in addition to events and activities for the younger set …scheduled Victorian Games, Toy Making etc.
